On 22 September 2026, a plenary meeting of the Almaty City Council of Veterans was held at the House of Friendship in Almaty. It was attended by the Chairman of the Republican Public Association “Organization of Veterans” A.K. Kusainov, representatives of the leadership of the Almaty Akimat, veterans' organizations, and the city public.
Before the meeting began, A.K. Kusainov laid flowers at the memorial in tribute and remembrance of those who contributed to the defense of the Fatherland and to the peaceful future of succeeding generations.
The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Almaty City Council of Veterans A.Kh. Bizhanov. The Deputy Akim of Almaty A.N. Nukenov addressed the participants of the Plenary Meeting with a welcoming speech.
The discussion focused on two important areas of work of veterans' organizations: strengthening the continuity of generations and preserving national values, as well as support for the older generation.
A report on the tasks of veterans' organizations in implementing the program “Continuity of Generations and National Values” was delivered by the Chairman of the Republican Public Association “Organization of Veterans” A.K. Kusainov.
The discussion of the topic was continued by the Chairman of the Nauryzbay District Council of Veterans M.T. Karkenov, the Chairman of the city public commission for the patriotic and moral education of young people Almukhambetov, the Chairman of the Almaly District Council of Veterans B.M. Kabylov B.A., the Chairman of the Medeu District Council of Veterans A.A. Tleubaev, and the Chairwoman of the Turksib District Council of Veterans G.A. Baygutdinova.
The second item on the agenda was devoted to the progress of implementation of the Plan of Measures to Improve the Situation of Older People through 2029. The main report was delivered by the Head of the Almaty Department of Employment and Social Programs B.Zh. Zhaubasov.
The Director of the municipal state institution “Active Longevity Center” of Almaty S.S. Beketayeva, the Chairwoman of the Zhetysu District Council of Veterans T.M. Shakirova, and the Chairwoman of the Auezov District Council of Veterans B.S. Ibraeva shared their experience and proposals on supporting the older generation.
During the Plenary Meeting, there was a thorough exchange of views on the further development of the veterans' movement, the participation of the older generation in the public life of the city, the passing on of life experience to young people, and the improvement of social support measures for older people.
Following the discussion, the corresponding resolutions were adopted on both items of the agenda. The meeting took place in a businesslike and constructive atmosphere, bringing together representatives of the veterans' community and government bodies around issues of great importance to the older generation.
