On 16 May, the XI Regular Congress of the Republican Public Association “Organization of Veterans” was held in the capital. The congress was attended by 120 delegates from all regions of the country, including 15 representatives of the Almaty City Council of Veterans.

The congress considered the report of the Central Council on the work done during the reporting period, as well as the main tasks for the further development of the veterans' movement. The main report was delivered by the Acting Chairman of the Central Council, A.B. Tasbulatov.

Following the discussion, the congress delegates adopted the relevant resolutions. The work of the Central Council during the reporting period was recognized as satisfactory.

The Central Council and veterans' organizations were instructed to continue their active organizational work, paying particular attention to the following areas:

– expanding the scale of the “Iskerlik zhane Zhanashyrlyk” (“Efficiency and Compassion”) projects and ensuring their implementation in all regions of the republic;

– stepping up work on pre-trial mediation within the “Daneker” project, and increasing the role of veteran mediators, especially in resolving family and labor disputes;

– further developing the network of “Active Longevity” centers jointly with local executive bodies, extending their activities to the district level;

– organizing training for the veterans' activists, and studying and disseminating positive work experience;

– attracting working pensioners and active citizens who have retired to the ranks of veterans' organizations;

– strengthening cooperation with government bodies, political parties, public and religious associations, business structures, and the media in order to protect the interests of the older generation and promote the veterans' movement.

The congress elected a new composition of the Central Council and the Audit Commission, as well as delegates to the X Congress of the International Union of Public Organizations of Veterans of the CIS States.

Abilgazy Kaliakparovich Kusainov was unanimously elected Chairman of the Central Council.

After the congress concluded, an organizational plenary meeting was held, at which Abay Bolekpaevich Tasbulatov was elected First Deputy Chairman of the Central Council.

The event was held in a solemn and businesslike atmosphere.
